Federation Promotes Family Education
May 28, 2023
Heihe Women's Federation (in Heihe, a city in Northeast China's Heilongjiang Province) recently initiated a campaign to promote family education. The purpose of the event was to promote implementation of the Law of the People's Republic of China on Family Education Promotion (which took effect on January 1, 2022), and to promote the spirit of Chinese President Xi Jinping's important statements, in the report to the 20th CPC (Communist Party of China) National Congress (held in October 2022), on the promotion of family education and good family traditions.
Under the campaign, the federation and Heihe Municipal People's Procuratorate established the Family Education Guidance Center, which helps the counties (cities or districts) in Heihe set up service centers dedicated to helping parents improve their ability to educate and take care of their children. The service centers also offer guidance to parents' schools (across Heihe), so the organizations can better help parents educate their children.
To promote family education, the federation established a "think tank," composed of experts, scholars and practitioners dedicated to studying family education. In addition to offering advice to parents on how to educate their children, members of the organization provide various public-welfare services (to residents of Heihe), to help parents improve their ability to educate their children.
The federation also conducted various activities to promote family education. For example, it invited educators to provide lectures to residents of Heihe, to help them increase knowledge about physiological development during puberty, so they can better educate their teenaged children.
In addition, the federation conducted investigations, to learn about the various difficulties residents face, as they conduct family education. The federation's cadres offered the residents suggestions on how to better educate their children.
The federation recently conducted an activity, during which the federation's cadres distributed brochures, which contained the regulations of the Law of the People's Republic of China on Family Education Promotion, among residents of Heihe. In addition to explaining the law to the residents, the cadres stressed the residents should make greater efforts to improve their ability to strengthen family construction, and to foster their children's healthy growth, by promoting family education, virtues and traditions.
